For the manufacturing industry with its large production systems, digital networking has been common practice for some time.
There are discussions about digitally networked monitoring of raw material and product flows in the production area, including industry-wide beyond company boundaries. There are clear links here to the circular economy and climate protection. Machine manufacturers for plastics and rubber processing have also been used to digital control of their products for some time. A new development in recent years has been the opening up of what were previously mostly proprietary "stand-alone" solutions for integration into a higher-level control instance.

K as Digitalisation: exhibitors and products at K 2022
The OPC UA (Open Platform Communications United Architecture) standard considerably simplifies the integration of machines from different manufacturers into a common system.
At K 2022, around 40 manufacturers will be demonstrating this with over 60 machines. They are thus making the great potential of platform-independent and manufacturer-independent machine-to-machine communication visible and tangible.
In exciting formats, the special show demonstrates how the future can be shaped with plastics. Experts from science, industry, politics and authorities as well as NGOs will provide information and discuss economic, social and ecological challenges and approaches to solutions.
