Maris' tailored extrusion process boasts several distinctive features designed to combat odorous contamination effectively. The extruder is characterized by its unique specifications and downstream equipment, ensuring optimal performance. The extruder, specifically designed for this recycling process, features advanced specifications such as Do/Di = 1.55 and an extruder length of 48 L/D.
The contaminant reduction process is executed in two phases, each meticulously engineered to maximize efficiency. The first phase involves high thermal melting and degassing, followed by the injection of water and subsequent degassing in the second phase.
To ensure optimal odor reduction and VOC removal, rigorous testing was conducted to identify the most effective process conditions. Thirteen samples underwent thorough analysis using Headspace Sampling and GC-MS analysis.
The layout of the extrusion line, depicted in Figure 1, showcases the key components of Maris' innovative solution. From the extruder to the pelletizer, each element plays a crucial role in ensuring effective odor abatement.
Maris' extrusion process represents a significant advancement in the realm of post-consumer plastic recycling. By effectively addressing odorous contamination, this innovative solution paves the way for more sustainable and efficient recycling practices.
